STANSBURY-POPLAR SERVICES

Stansbury-Poplar Services got its start when Blanche Francis responded to a newspaper advertisement for a tax preparer. The owner of Stansbury Pharmacy had decided to add tax preparation to his business. Blanche prepared taxes for many years alongside other staff who eventually branched out on their own. Eventually, Blanche's daughters entered the tax business. Cathy joined the staff in 1974 and Barbara in 1979. As the business continued to grow, Blanche’s daughter–in-law, Cindy and daughter Anne were added to the tax preparation staff. 

In 1991, Stansbury-Poplar Services evolved after the merger of Stansbury Stereo and Bryn Mawr Stereo. Thanks to the owner of Poplar Place Shopping Center- Bill Wortman, Stansbury-Poplar Services was able to remain in the same shopping center moving just two doors away from the old location. Blanche continued to travel from her home in Baldwin for over 65 years preparing taxes until she retired at age 90. Blanche’s legacy of dedication, compassion and commitment to her clients continues in the same tradition through  Cathy, Barbara, Cindy and Anne. 

When you visit the office, you will see family members, grandchildren, and close friends all busy at work. Everyone contributes to the success of the business. It’s a proud family tradition.  As we always say, “At other businesses you get people, but at Stansbury you get family.”
